This Voodoo Doll make-up look was inspired by the YouTuber 'Alycia Marie'. I came across this and fell in love with the idea and the concept and decided to create is for myself.

What did I do?

For the process of the making of this make-up look I started with the moulding of the button eye, to do this I used black clay, I then let it dry by putting it in the oven to speed the process. In addition to this I created skin for the neck piece and the mouth I wanted to create, I did this by using tissue paper and liquid latex, I left it to dry over night and helped speed up the process a little by using a hair dryer. Once dried I cut the skins I made into the shapes suitable for my face and neck. I pierced the neck skin and pushed twine through the holes I created and used liquid latex to stick the loose ends to my real skin and used black eyeshadow to create the illusion that the twine was buried in my neck; I also coloured the skins to an orange/brown colour with a No.7 foundation to make it more voodoo like. I did the same process for the mouth part of the Voodoo look and punched holes through and pushed the twine through and join the two parts together, however still with a gap in the middle so the mouth can move; I used liquid latex to stick it to my face and neck. I then prepared the eye area by covering one eyebrow with vaseline I didn't risk ripping it off when applying the button eye and latex. Moving on, I applied liquid latex to create a lumpy texture to the skin and painted over it with the same foundation as before, this formed a more rough and voodoo look. I then used tape to cover the majority of my eye so it was protected when putting the button on. Before putting the button on I coloured my eye area with black face paint so you couldn't see any skin through the button when it was on, I did this also under the mouth piece before sticking it on. Furthermore I ripped a cotton ball up and then made a circle around my eye where I was going to stick the clay button on, I again stuck this on with liquid latex. To make the mouth more realistic I placed tissue paper over the outer edges of the mouth and covered it in liquid latex and painted over it with the same foundation to blend the look together. On the other hand I used a pink shade from the 'Sephora, Mixology' pallet and coloured my lid, I then added winged eyeliner to give it a glam look as well as creepy look. I then used a brown eyeshadow and used in patches on my face to make it appear more dirty and old. Towards the end I added two nostrils with liquid eyeliner and I also added fake eyelashes to add to the glam.

What would I change/do different?

Things I would do differently include the use of tape that I used around my eye, as it actually made my eye water and it was quite uncomfortable, but it did the job. Next time I would definitely use thinner tape as it would be more comfortable, not only comfortable but easier to work with. Other than that I am happy with my result.
